Hello, my dear fellow humans! Thank you for stopping by.
Interestingly, I'm not new to the visual art world. However, up until 2021, aside from grade school art classes, I had never picked up a paintbrush. Why? Well, truthfully, as much as I love the arts, drawing never clicked with me the way I'd hoped, and therefore, I did not think I could be an artist, let alone a painter, if I didn't have formal drawing instruction.
I'm here to tell you that I was wrong. The work you see today directly results from the determination to master a new medium. After an incredibly inspiring (and totally awesome) art event, I attended while sailing to Alaska in 2021, I decided to give painting a long-time-coming shot.
I care most about creating bodies of work that inspire and invoke a profound sense of emotion - emotions that I feel when immersed in the natural world. I create thematic works containing images of landscapes, trees, space, and abstract fluid art to foster a passionate connection to the easily overlooked beauty of nature.
While I started painting in 2021, I have been creating professional work since 2014. I have worked with many businesses and individuals to create logos, videos, posters, and other design assets. If you want to learn more about my logo graphic design, click here.
Bio
Andrew Skidmore, born in 1995, is a Maryland-based artist known for creating impressionistic and surreal artworks that evoke a sense of peace, radiance, and mystique. Andrew employs various techniques to infuse his paintings with expressive and captivating qualities.
His artistic journey began in 2005 when he received his first cell phone and fell in love with filming short-format videos. Over the next decade, Andrew launched several successful YouTube channels, producing hundreds of videos on a wide range of subjects; the videos have collectively garnered over one million views.
Not only has Andrew received multiple awards for his filmmaking and editing skills, but he is also celebrated for his graphic portrait of Andrew Yang. This captivating piece has received high praise online, and Andrew is honored to have donated all proceeds from selling its prints to charities. Andrew is also best known for his "Pals" series of paintings, which features silhouetted characters of a dog and cat in stunning and scenic landscapes.
A graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a BFA in Cinematic Arts, Andrew's professional work expands beyond painting to include logo/graphic design, photo editing, and video editing. His diverse skillset and passion for visual arts continue to fuel his artistic exploration and growth.
